Halestone Dance Studio seeks an Operations Manager begin in the summer or fall of 2021. This is a twelve-month, half-time appointment with the potential to supplement salary through dance instruction. Halestone is a non-profit dance education organization focused on providing equitable access to dance experiences to the local and surrounding areas. For over 40 years, Halestone’s approach has fostered student participation in the creative process, bridging technique, theory, and practice in the studio and in community performances. Halestone Dance Studio is located in historic and scenic Lexington, Virginia, home to two liberal arts colleges, Washington and Lee University and Virginia Military Institute. In the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, the region offers an inspiring setting for site-specific choreography, a wide range of artists and musicians, and a unique opportunity to explore the moving arts.
Applicants should have experience in managing the operations of a nonprofit organization that engages with the community and a commitment to equitable and accessible dance education. Strong applicants will have a background in dance and the arts, experience with educational outreach, and success in prior grant writing. The Operations Manager is responsible for the operational components of educational and artistic programs; routine finance and bookkeeping; policy implementation; facilities, equipment, and communication across programs and partnerships. In addition, the Operations Manager will work with the Board of Directors and the Artistic Director to implement long-range plans, build community relationships, fundraise and engage donors, and write grants.

Guest Artists/Dance Teaching Artists
Halestone Dance Studio, a nonprofit dance studio run by the Halestone Foundation in Lexington, VA, seeks dance artists interested in teaching one-time workshops or short residencies in a variety of dance styles, in particular: Appalachian clogging, hip-hop, African dance, and tap. Dance artists experienced teaching multiple age groups in community settings in particular are encouraged to apply.
