Present Expressions, a Halestone Dance Studio Fall Concert 2020
Join us for an outdoor concert! Halestone Dance Studio is excited to announce an outdoor fall concert, Present Expressions, with original choreography and direction by Artistic Director Mauri Connors, Teaching Artists Elizabeth Becker and Analise LaRiviere; guest choreography by McKelvey Courtney Collins; additional guest choreography and direction by board member Stephanie Hodde; and collaborative choreography by students in our Company ensembles. Present Expressions is our experience of the current moment, portrayed through dance. For some dancers, such as our advanced high school students, these portrayals form detailed, collaborative choreography, where students reflect on what 2020 has brought them. For other dancers, such as our young movers included in this concert (Creative Movement Ensemble, Modern I & II, and Company Prep), this concert is a chance to introduce themselves to their community, and to experience what performance feels like early on in the dance year. Performing in front of an audience is an opportunity for young dancers to demonstrate their learning; connect how class exercises relate to the art that gets shared; come together as a community; and have fun! In a typical year, Halestone performs at multiple community events throughout the fall. This year, much is different, so we decided to hold this outdoor event as a safe performance opportunity for multiple age groups. |

Present Expressions also kicks off Halestone’s Annual Fund campaign. While Halestone is alive and well, we have been and continue to be greatly impacted by the current global pandemic and how that affects our operations. Our overall operating budget hasn’t shrunk during these times, however our revenue streams have been affected. Halestone needs your support to weather the current situation and exist for years to come to provide equitable, nurturing, creative, collaborative and expansive dance education. Please visit our website to learn more about our aspirational strategic plan, adopted in early 2020, and consider donating to Halestone today to support the arts in our community.
